Chances are, you’ve binge-watched every single episode of Joan on ITVX, and are now wondering whether Sophie Turner’s drama about a notorious jewelry thief is going to be renewed for a second season. Right? Right! Here’s everything we know about the future of the hit show.

Wait, what is Joan about?

Joan is based on the real-life story of Joan Hannington, a woman who started stealing jewelry during the 1980s in order to build a better life for herself and her daughter. After escaping an abusive relationship and putting her daughter into foster care, Joan meets Boisie, a man living a double life as an antiques jeweler and a criminal. The two ultimately develop both a romantic and working relationship, where they plan stings together.

How did Joan season 1 end?

At the end of the series, Joan and Boisie work on a robbery that ends up going wrong after Albie accidentally hires her ex-partner Gary to help them out. A fight breaks out, in which Gary tries to shoot Joan and misses. On his second attempt, Boisie jumps in front of Joan and gets hit in the back of his leg. Gary then runs out with the jewels and into the van, instructing Albie to drive off.

Joan is distraught as Boisie bleeds to death on the floor of the jewelry shop, but he tells her to go and get her daughter Kelly. She soon hears sirens and has to leave Boisie to make a run for it. She retrieves Kelly from school, only for the child to get her hands on the gun in Joan’s bag—the final straw that makes Joan realize she’s not in a position to look after her daughter after all. She ends up returning her to foster care, before ultimately turning herself in to the police.

We join her four years later in Spain, where she meets Albie, who hands her a suitcase of cash. He asks her if she wants to start working together again, to which she says she wants to begin an honest life far away from crime.

Has Joan season 2 been confirmed?

Currently, ITV hasn’t said anything about a potential season two of the hit show. Considering it was originally commissioned as a six-part mini-series, it’s unlikely the network had a season 2 in mind when it was first made.

What might happen in Joan season 2?

Luckily, there are definitely potential storylines for more episodes. We could see the protagonist try to make it work in the real world, get Kelly back from foster care, or even continue her illegal escapades with a new partner in crime.

Who would be in the Joan season 2 cast?

Of course, Joan wouldn’t exist without Sophie Turner, but fans could also expect to see Kelly (played by Mia Millichamp-Long) reprise her role should another season debut. Of course, it’s unlikely we would see Boisie Hannington again (played by Frank Dillane) after his character died in season 1, but he could come back in flashbacks—ya never know!
